3.6 conversion exhaust. what do you think?

I have had Timmins exhaust setup for a long time and I love it, but I am having two issues with it:
1) since I have not cat I am not sure I would pass smog test in NY. Last year I installed a 3.2 exhaust setup that I have as spare, but I quite some work involve in changing it just for the test.
2)Last event at Limerock I was expelled by the "sound police". I exceeded the 90db limit (not by much, but enough to be taking out of one round)

I had these short cats in my garage and thought that they might solve my two problems. What do you think? Is there any issue in having the cats AFTER the muffler?

Thanks in advance for your inputs.

I will remain to be seen if the cats get hot enough. Let us know how it works out.

well, noise wise you can hear the difference..in terms of the cat doing its work...I have no idea how to test it, other than taking it to the inspection, but I would like to know if anyone knows if this might be a problem in passing the inspection. I mean, the fact that the cats are after the mufflers.

thanks again

There's no smog testing in ny yet. At least in upstate.

If they are doing visuals in your area then you will have a problem, they are looking for stock exhausts.

if they are doing sniffer tests you may be ok, the cats do work in that position just not as well as when they are closer to the ports, the key is to get them hot before any sniffer test

Every day at LRP is an adventure in determining what will be allowed, they could probably bar half the cars there on any given day, So far this summer they seem to be only concentrating on the worst offenders, I know that my '76 would no be allowed to run there, even Monticello was monitoring dB levels last week

Thanks a lot for the replies. Bill, I have an event at LRP on September 11th, so let's see how it goes!!
