Mystery oil lines 'I think' on my 71' 911??

OK, I have looked in the parts catalog, looked in the 72'+ Workshop (by the way if you have a pre-72' version in electronic format I would LOVE a copy!!) and cant see anything to explain these lines. They are about 3/8" ID.

They are hard pipes inside the shifter tunnel that exit vertically out of the shift tunnel just before the front bulkhead. In the back they exit like the Clutch/Acc/Speedo cables but then are cloth braided lines that snake over to the drivers side and up into the engine bay and over the front shelf area.

The somewhat funny (but not so much at time) thing was that I could not figure out what they were for or where they were going (I thought they may have been some weird fuel lines) so I used compressed air to see if I could figure out where they go. So after a couple of seconds of air I started to hear a percolating sound and thought 'that sounds like oil?!?!'. So when I went to investigate I found I had shot a ton of oil oil all over my pedal assembly area ;( which is why the floor looks so shiny. Thank you for the 5 hour clean up job!

After a little more investigation it seems that the missing hoses up front have two holes in the bulkhead over the drivers feed area, that lead forward up to the fuel tank area under the flange but from there I have no idea.

I cant imagine these being for engine cooling as they are just too small. I was thinking Sportomatic but my car is not so equipped and even that does not show up if my search.

Anybody have any idea what these are?

they are part of the EGR/emission system as far as I know, they go to the charcoal canister located next to the fuel tank.

OK, yep you are right...I just found that in the book. This car has been raced a lot in it's early days which enplanes why that stuff is all missing. I am still trying to figure out why they are full of oil though? At any rate I guess I don't need them unless I decide to use them to vent the tank.

Replace the braided hose and keep the evaporative emissions system intact, it will not cost you any horsepower and you will not smell fuel inside the cabine every time you get gas (fuel)

Where do the lines go inside the engine compartment when you have Webers? I have a 72+ set of workshop manuals so they dont show me. Thanks!

One goes to the engine shroud and the other should go to the air cleaner cover.

How the the race guys set this up as my car is more that direction now then stock. I have K&N filters over the Webers so I am lacking that point anyway.
