Wiring Diagram Options
Greetings to All!
In the midst of my sl-o-o-o-w engine rebuild of my 1976 911S, I’m working on other issues as they come up. One of them is wiring. What I have isn’t bad; if I can remember long enough ago when the car last ran, most everything seemed to work. However, as I’m poking around, I’ve found a number of unconnected connectors, dangling or loose wires, etc. I’d like clean it all up, remove any evident corrosion, maybe upgrade some of the connections, and so on. From reading this board with regularity, I know where these modest intentions lead: before I’ll know it, I’ll be in the middle of a huge project. Before starting, I know I’ll need the best electrical diagram I can get, as I’m essentially a novice at this. What’s your recommendation? 1. Haynes manual: small diagrams, black-and-white, a lot of page turning. By covering so many years, maybe it’s a little generic, and therefore not exact? Plus side: I already own it. 2. Pelican electrical diagram: in color, but still kind of small. Not specific to a 76; instead it’s billed as being typical for any 911S. Plus side: free! 3. Prospero’s Garage (PROSPERO'S GARAGE Presents:* 11" x 17", Laminated, Full Original Color Wiring Diagrams for Motorcycles & Vintage Sports Cars!). Anyone ever use one of these? I’m trying to shill for them, but they offer a color version for 1976 (and others), on 11”x17” paper, laminated, that’s fully labeled (instead of looking to the legend to see what #9 is, it says “battery” in the box). Down side: about $20, but if it is good, it may be worth it. 4. The factory manuals may be the best, but they cost way more than I’m ready to spend right now. Any other good options? Thanks! Brian |
