O2 sensor disconnected; Now what?

So I did my first track day a few weeks ago. I was disappointed in the power of my 1981 SC Targa. It ran fine, other than an oil leak I'm trying to locate, but I expected more power and better acceleration.

Anyway, while searching for my oil leak I find that the PO had disconnected the O2 sensor. I searched and found some comments that people disconnect the sensor and then adjust the CIS to compensate. I suspect it was disconnected because there was some kind of problem.

SO, how do I proceed? Hook the sensor up and see what happens? I have the bentley manual and have ordered the CIS manual.
