72 911t engine hood - proper?
Hi friends.
My sepia brown 1972 is all original - even the paint. but i noticed that 72s have black letters and a black grille on the engine hood. mine is more silver than black. it looks like it could have faded, but it's hard to tell. the paint is very weathered so it's possible. im wondering if it's a replacement hood or fading or did 72s have two grille colors? thanks - photo attached but hard to see the grille color. mike ![]() |

Your 72 should have silver trim in the lenses like the 71 and earlier car and also have the black engine grill like a 73. I suspect your grill is just faded. These would have been originally anodized black aluminum from the factory.
