You might also want to bench test break away torque before installing. A used lsd may also be a worn out lsd

I would go so far as to open in up, visually inspect it, clean everything and put it back together. Of the ones I've done recently I've had to replace the spider gears even though the discs were still good. After these things go through 2 or 3 rebuilds it's not just the wear items that start to wear out.

Good advice on testing it before it is installed - I will make sure they do that. Anyone happen to know the part number for the bearings?

I think it depends on make and age. They pop up for sale here on the Pelican forum from time to time and average round $1000 in price.

I got my LSD which now is confirmed to be a late model ZF from the same person that sold me the 3.6 engine. i am not sure what I paid for the LSD, as we negotiated a package price for the 964 engine, 993 heat exchangers, the LSD and some other small stuff...

Ah nice deal. I am intend to rebuild my engine in next two to three years. It's got 200,000+ km on the original engine. without any overhaul done thanks i'll keep a look out.
