Is this a TUV violation?

Spent a few weeks touring Europe in my european delivery M3 and came across this fellow racing down the autobahn. For how disciplined and strict things were in Germany, I was just a bit surprised.

Doesn't TUV allow for classic cars falling apart as they trundle down the road?

I should think so. But aren't the TUV inspectors those guys who stand roadside with the paddles they wave at you if they want you to stop? If so, they'd not see this "infraction" in time, would they?

Cool color on the car - looks like maybe tangerine?

And thumbs-up on Euro delivery. We did that a number of years back and found it a terrific way to go.

They do not check your license plate bolts during Tuv. Generally these items are checked / tested:

- Chassis integrity (rust). No holes allowed in frame parts. No large holes in fenders / wheelwell areas where it can allow dirt / gravel out.
- Brakes. These are tested on a dyno and checked visually. This includes the emergency brake.
- Suspension and steering. These are wiggled about and checked for slop.
- Wheel bearings. There are tested for play.
- Aftermarket parts are checked for general cert or being added to the registration.

A good advertisement for a rear spoiler ...

SVB,

... a bit OT but I see that the back of the 911 is starting to lift a little due to the volume of air going under the car and a lack of rear spoiler of some sort to hold the back down.
I assume the owner hasn't got a rear spoiler because it " spoils the lines " of the Targa.
Do you recall about what speed you / he was doing at the time ?

Cheers,
Dennis.
