Are K&N Oil Filters OK for the 65-71 engines?

I know I shouldn't use anything but MANN or MAHLE but I have 3 K&N filters laying around that fit the engine! Would you use them or not? I know people have had problems with non-German filters because the massive pressure in the filter. Is K&N ok?

Depends on if they have a bypass or not....or if they ONLY fit 911s. Frams interchange with five diff models and are junk.

I would find a consumer report on them....I just know that "I" prefer the Mann and Mahle. How much is your motor worth?

See this is where I am confused. I thought all oil filters had a bypass valve?

When you asked how much my beloved 2.0 is worth you scared me! Its got at least $14,000 and I don't want to risk it by any means. If the K&N's meet 911 spec then it wouldn't be a risk. I will only install it if someone chimes in that they have some miles on one on a 911 engine.

What, to save $10 on a factory oil filter?

Although on the other hand, you're playing it safe, waiting to hear from some anonymous person on the internets with some unverified claims as to safety before putting it inline on your oiling system.

JMHO,......

If your statement is true, your ONLY option should be an OEM German filter as they really work very well,.....

Machining costs are a bear...to prevent having to pay machining costs I will use a German filter.
