Pretty sure I toasted my DME-What to do?
I failed smog, so I took out my Steve Wong chip and replaced it with the stock one, no start. Pulled the DME out again, and I found Steve's instructions, and I had put the stock chip in backwards. Steve says doing so can damage the DME. Wish I'd reread his instructions before hand... I tried the spare DME relay and putting Steve's chip back in, nothing. Car ran fine before I buggered it up.
Anyway, what are my options? |
Sorry to hear Hugh. A new one?? :(

Sorry also. I'd email Steve first thing. It's not always the worst thing possible. Was the socket or chip pins damaged? Check the fuse block? Don't know but there could be a mini fuse on the board. Ken

I borrowed a spare DME from a friend and it started, then I put his chip in my DME and it ran as well, so I erased the stock chip apparently. I feel greatly relieved, especially since my friend says he can copy his stock chip for me.
I feel so much better. |
