Is this the correct wrench?
I was going to use the 22mm wrench from a tool kit that I purchased recently for my '80 targa. I'm still looking for a spark plug wrench to complete the set, if you haven't already seen my other thread. Anyways, I thought this 22mm wrench(the one shaped like a lug wrench) was supposed to be used to tighten the fan pulley nut. It turns out that the pulley nut on my car looks to be about 24 or 25mm. Is this wrench for an older car with a smaller nut or is this wrench not supposed to be used for the fan pulley nut? I'm amazed at how everyday some new ridiculous problem arises with this car.

If a newer alternator was installed on the car some are coming with a 24 mm (across the flats) nut. I installed a rebuilt Valeo alternator (with the internal voltage regulator) on my car ('76 911S) and it came with a 24 mm nut; the old alternator nut and the the wrench for it in the tool kit are 22 mm. It may be time to get a 24 mm socket and breaker bar in the tool kit for a future fan belt replacement. Cheers, Jim Sims
