Carburetor cross shaft loose or tight?
Should the cross shaft, between the carburetors, be under compression from the ball ends? Mine is. The cross shaft rotates, but it feel very tight. Is this correct, or should it be able to move side to side?
Also, should it be lubricated with grease to prevent wear?

Loose to rotate freely without radial play and lubricate it. The mounting plates are rather compliant for endload so you can adjust the 13mm(?) ball studs at each end of the cross bar to get a little axial load without binding the whole thing up.
