Where to install my 02 sensor on 79 SC
I have recently purchased an LM2 02 meter and sensor for my 79 euro SC. Where do I mount the sensor for best precision / ease of Install / best lifespan?
Thanks |
there is no O2 sensor on a 79 SC

I am hoping there will be when I install it ..... and hook it up to my new LM2 meter so I can fine tune my A/F ratio's.
Is there a flap that is used for an emissions tester's CO2 Sensor? I took a look but couldn't see it, but I have heard about one somewhere. Might be able to install it there. |
You can remove the cat converter (or the euro pre muffler) and have a muffler shop weld on a O2 sensor bung at the rear of the unit (by the exhaust in side). look in the wheel well left rear and mark on the cat where it would fit best and take it to a shop. If you have headers or have backdated, you only get to monitor one bank of exhaust gas so choose what is convenient for mounting.

I have often wondered if I have a pre muffler or a cat. They look the same from the outside right? If I have a cat, then will there be room to drill the hole without messing up the inside of it? Come to think of it, If I have a pre muffler then I could mess that up too by drilling a hole in it ....?

Mind you, it would be an opportunity to replace the oil return tubes while I'm in there.

at the rear flange, there is 1-2" of pipe before it expands to ether the cat or pre muffler. that is the place you want to use.

Makes sense. Thanks.
BTW, I have what is that pipe made of? I looks like a cast piece of some sort. It might be hard to drill and weld? |
not a problem, take it to a muffler shop.
