I watched a mechanic reach around the back and pull it right out. It's not easy, mostly by feel. A slight engine drop might help along with some mirrors.

chamilun,

The removal of the CSV is not difficult. If your arms are big like most men I know, it would be cumbersome to access the 2 bolts securing the CSV. I have removed and installed CSV several times without any partial drop because I could get to the 2 bolts. Secret? Small and skinny arms!!!!! An engine partial drop will offer better access to the back of the engine.

Then if you decide to do it, I'll offer you some of the tricks I used for removal and testing of the CSV.

The top picture shows the electrical and fuel line for testing a CSV and the bottom picture shows a 4 & 5 mm allen wrenches attached to a nylon string. The string will save you from the agony of retrieving the allen wrench when you accidentally dropped it!!!!! The most frustrating part of the job is recovering the dropped allen wrench sitting somewhere on the engine. Be aware that there is a small rubber o-ring between the mounting base and the CSV. Don't lose it. Keep us posted.

CSV are only on CIS systems correct? Not Motronic right. I ask because I looked up through our host and there is one for an 86 carrera but at the top it says CIS so I am a bit conufused.
