Carrera Sport wheel in an 86 911 ?

Hi
Does anyone know if the 'Fat' Carrera Sport Steering wheel will fit an 1986 911 ?
or would I need to modify something ?
I know the 84' 911's came with the three spoke wheel.
Thanks

I know the 380mm Carrera Sport wheel can fit an SC and an 84 Carrera.
Can anyone tell me if there is a difference between the steering column where it meets the steering wheel on an early 84 Carrera and the 1986 Carrera which has the standard 4 spoke Carrera wheel ?

my 85 came had 4 spoke, but also included a factory (1 1/2"?) spacer, so when I replaced with the sport wheel the reach was increased (for me, a good thing). Check your existing wheel to see if it has the extender installed - the spacer will not swap to a three spoke. Otherwise a plug-and-play swap. Both cars have the same column, splines and shaft. Make sure you get a 911 wheel.

There are people on ebay and even on here that are selling 944 3-spoke wheels that say they work on a 911.

They look identical but will NOT fit on a 911 - splines are VW/Audi splines, not 911.

Thanks for the feedback. The ink below shows the wheel I'm asking about, and that I want to put in the '86 911 This is the 'Fat' 380mm version of the 3 spoke

Bought the core from a Pelican a couple of weeks ago...sent it to Dallas Custom Steering Wheel based on a recommendation on Pelican. Not cheap, but a two day turn around and apparently high quality work.

I had Dallas Custom Wheel do my three spoke last year, came out great with the extra thickness. Warning: The price has gone up dramatically...

I emailed them this morning and got a quick reply. It goes for about $340, including return shipping.

Thanks Hal. That seems to be a pretty typical price... Autobahn was similar when I emailed them a while back.
