6 PIN power mirror driver side switch
OK so I've been blowing fuses all morning and now I'm stumped. Old power mirror switch only moved mirror in. Got a new switch. Six wires are: two browns (I thought were grounds) two black wires w/ red stripes (I thought were HOT) , one light blue and one white. I put the brown to the two outside pins. That left four pins in the middle. I put the black w/ red side by side, under over and diagonally. The light blue and white went on the other two pins. All the time blowing fuses. Any thoughts? Please advise.

Thanks but I don't know how to read this.

Here are some pics that might help.

Thanks for the pic...two browns, one blue, one white that matches but I have two black w/ red stripe and you have a black w/purple and a green. I put the browns where you have one brown and one black. ie on the side . Any thoughts?

Weird, mine is like the second pic and I have a 1979 euro too. Try it both ways, what's another fuse at this point. It's 50/50 now I guess.
|
My 79 Euro switch looks like pic #2, but different color wires (ie two black w/ red and no green)
|
And this is what the schematic shows. E43 is the switch.

Measure voltage at both of the red/black wires with the key on and a good fuse. The one with 12v replaces the violet/black, the other replaces the green one.

Thanks Mark,
I'm out of fuses for the day. Appreciate your help! |
I've been involved with this, and just took my switch out ('86) and compared the connections.
I believe "equality72571" to be absolutley correct. My wires (starting at "9 o'clock" as the pictures show, and then circling around clockwise) go "black, brown, green, brown, blue, white. I believe yours should in fact must go black/red at 9 o'clock, then brown, then black/red, then brown at 3 o'clock, then blue, then white.....again, moving clockwise from the first black. Andy, I am sure your browns go where the "old" style picture shows them. That in fact is constant, has never changed over the years. The first black definitely goes at the left, at 9 o'clock. The other black HAS to go where the green wire shows in the "old" style pic. |
SUCCESS......MIRROR MOVES IN ALL FOUR DIRECTIONS.....THANKS TO ALL!
Found two fuses in the glove box. Starting at 9 0'clock, I tried--- Black w/ Red, Brown, Black w/Red, Brown, Blue and White------Blew fuse. Switched the two Black w/Red wires and it worked. Maybe I have a Black and a Black w/ Red. So for those who care, starting at 9 o'clock, the order is---- Black, Brown, Black w/Red, Brown, Blue and White Larry or nesslar: Thanks for the switch, phone calls and you contribution to this thread. I'll buy more fuses tomorrow. What a day, felt like an idiot, blew about 6 fuses but got it on the last one! |

Larry-- I must have one Black and my Black w/ Red is your Green. That said, the order is a match!
Thanks again! |
