headlights

I am sure there must be a thread somewhere that specifically addresses the suitability and ease of installation of these lights. Please let me know if anyone has installed and whether you are happy with them.

there are a bunch of threads about the various light options available -- search for "H4" and "HID and you should see a fair # -- what's your current setup? (sugar scoops with sealed beam headlights?) and what's your goal? (if simply better light, drop a pair of 7" H4 assemblies into your sugar scoops and have great light for around $100, if euro looks, the euro h4 setups gets you there. HIDs are cutting edge but I haven't seen a light brightness improvement over high wattage h4s and personally prefer the h4 beam pattern over the HIDs I've seen) -- finally, whatever you do, install a headlight relay (our host sells a nice kit) as delivered, the full wattage from the headlights goes right through the high beam/turn signal switch, which causes premature failure.

car stared life as a 69 912 and all body parts, including lights, seem from that era. Just looking for more/better light.

Assuming you have sugar scoop headlights (see, e.g. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploads6/911E+frontpass1131024756.jpg), the cheapest solution for good light is to drop in a pair of european headlights -- (e.g. http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/smart/more_info.cgi?pn=70476-M44&catalog_description=&Headlamp%2520Conversion%2520Kit%2520%252D%2520High %252FLow%2520H%2534%2520Headlight%2520). Add a pair of higher wattage bulbs (here's a link to hella 80/100 watt bulbs - http://www.amazon.com/HELLA-HLA-H83140171-H4-100-80W/dp/B000COBLKW) and a headlight relay kit (http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/smart/more_info.cgi?pn=JWST-911-HLPR&catalog_description=&Headlight%2520Relay%2520Kit) and, once you adjust the lights properly, you'll have very bright lights with a well-defined cutoff -- equal to or (imo) better than those on many new cars.

Upgrading from DOT sealed beans to the Hella E Code lights with stock wattage bulbs (which are included in the kit) makes a dramatic difference. I did this and never increased the wattage. You should also add. Set of headlight relays to preserve your flasher stalk.
