Reversed My Smugglers Box Lid

Recently during a bare metal repaint, I installed a rsr style strut brace. I have the pattern for the weld in bracket if anyone is interest. Since the battery was relocated to the smuggler's box I had issues with the lid hitting the strut brace bar, so I reversed the hinges on the lid....

Note the little leather strap with snap. Also a leather hoop on lid with snap

Held open with the leather strap and snap

Hi Bob -

That's pretty slick. Any chance the pattern for the weld-in bracket is emailable?

Thanks,
Tom

Nice. Yeah if the pattern is e-mailable that would be great.

I traced it out and scanned it in. Print at 100% size. The distance between the dotted lines should equla the OD of the bar you intend to use. Recommend you make a prototype out of cardboard for best sizing. left and right side are the reverse of each other.

Good work. I removed my cover and made one out of carbon fiber sheet. I then used velcro strips to reinstall it. Looks great and has been a nice weight savings. Will take some photos.
