Red face Sometimes ya gotta laugh about it

So on that sunny day when I couldn't get the Targa top off because the latches broke, here's what else happened.

1. Driving and noticed the passenger headlight is on but much more dim than the driver side. Interesting since historically lights have just burned out on me.
Could this be a bad bulb or does the fact that it didn't go out entirely indicate some other electrical issue such as contacts worn, dirty, or wet? It had been raining before.

2. Tach continues to get stuck. OK that one was old and is probably just the tach needing to be fixed or replaced.

3. The killer. I'm almost home and I see this flash in front of my eyes, then feel a crash on my right arm which was reaching for the shifter. What the hell was that? I look to my rear view mirror to check traffic as a reflex and there is no mirror! The rear view mirror fell off the window. Apparently the PO used a cheap glue to hold it on. Guess I will need to epoxy it or something.

I just had to laugh at my fun day of motoring.

the headlight problem is most likely a corroded ground wire. it's probably corroded right at the plug where it attatches to the headlight bulb, this happened to mine, i ended up replacing the socket because the actual terminal where the wire connects is what was corroded.

Boy, you better be careful about what you post. You are beginning to make it sound like your p-car went British.

Whew, you scared me there for a moment. I guess I had a Triumph moment when I read your post. I used to own a TR-7 awhile back - need I say more.

I don't believe that Lucas was ever a subcontractor for Porsche...but, wait a minute....it IS an SC.... You'd best get those nasties squared away lest you embarrass the SCWDP.

OK, OK, just kidding....I don't need to be on the hit list of the SCWDP thugs. I'd like to keep my kneecaps intact

Those are the days when your horoscope says .."Don't get out of bed today" but its too late ya had to get up to get the paper to read the horoscope! Trouble's already started! Sort of like.."Experience is what you get right after you need it"!

No, your Porsche won't blow the head gasket like the TR7 would...

Your headlight is the ground. Anytime you get dim lights it is invariably a ground that is trying to work but cannot as rust or corrosion has finally killed the contact. I'd take the time to pull the whole assembley and wax the inside of the headlight bucket area after cleaning out all of the dirt you will find in there.
