Resurrecting this old thread, about to do my targa bar. I have read pretty much every thread i could find on this. Any trick to the rubber trim? Do I just pull the four plastic plugs and peel the trim back from the bar cover to get at the sheet metal screws? Does the trim need to come off completely?

I checked my Targa bar and their is a significant difference in the way the magnet attracts vs. the body. I will probably keep it black. Did the factory black bar on an 87 Carerra have kind of a pebble finish to it? The paint on mine is kind of pebbled, maybe to blend in with the Targa top?
