What is an "8R" case
I am aware of the "7R" series designation for air cooled 911 engine cases.
This paragraph in Porsche's press announcement about the 2025 Porsche Classic Challenge winners caught my eye: Power for the unique sportscar comes from a 2.8L engine built from a Porsche Classic ‟8R” case, paired with a modern fuel injection system.

The 8R cases weren’t without there problems, I’m not sure they are still available.
