What model is this?

Sorry, no photo. But I think it was shown in the A&E Biography on Dr. Porsche.

What was the model name of that special edition car they made for Ferry Porsche's ?th birthday? I saw it at the factory and did not take note of the name. It looks like a cross between a 911 and a Boxster. Thanks.

I recall a four door 928 from one of my books that was made for Ferry, not sure when though...

I think they made a "present" for Dr Porsche which was a 914 with a 908 race car engine (flat 8 with 300hp, from memory).

Oh to own that.... my preciousssss.

There was a discussion on that a while back - try the archives.

Richard, I think that car was called the PanAmericana or something like that. It was green with two longitudinal roof pillars that were the main visual aspect of the car.
I think that's the one you were asking about.

I'll vote for the 914 with the 908 power. There was quite a bit of publicity about that car. Evidently it wasn't driven much. Maybe there is such a thing as too fast? For the street, anyway...

That was the very different but good design of the teal panamerica car that was given to Ferry on his b-day with specially cut tires with the porsche emblem cut in them very cool.
I wonder what powered it?

I ll see if I cant post a picture

Isn't that the PanAmericana concept car? I saw it at the Petersen Automotive Museum when they had thair Porsche exhibit. I remember it being a bit shorter than a Boxster.

917 too

Guys I seem to recall reading that they gave him a 917 that was street legal somewhere in the same timeframe as the 914-8. I even have a vision of it from the rear with a banana sport muffler on it. Am I lost or does anyone else remember it.

Re: What model is this?

An answer to the original question:

Porsche 942 was a concept car presented to Ferry Porsche by the company on his 80th birthday. The car itself is based on a 928, the car was basically custom made for him as a birthday surprise.
It's a station wagon as you see! And the only piece in the world...naturally. It's in the Porsche museum.
