Missing door pillar ID tag on 73.5’ 911 I am considering buying

If the door pillar ID tag that appears on pre 74’ 911’s is missing on a 1973 1/2 911t Targe I am considering purchasing, would this be considered detrimental for resale? The silver VIN plate is intact in the trunk.

What is the purpose of this tag? Does it signify the paint code? It is the small square silver tag with black text that states:

MADE IN WESTERN GERMANY
KUNSTHARZLACK
(code)

Please educate me. Thnx in advance, Mike

As far as I know, that shows the paint code. Kunstharzlack = synthetic resin varnish

sure, it is detrimental for resale -- but the car is a T, not an S not an E, so...

As Randy stated, it is detrimental but only to the extent that something original is missing. This tag is not needed for legal registration or identification like the VIN tag. A replacement tag can be purchased if needed with color code information added. IMO, the missing tag should not interfere with your potential purchase, unless you expect a 100% original, unmolested car. There are too many other important things to worry about in determining if the car is the one to buy.

agree to focus on the important things - esp. for a T. If it was an all orig. "S" then even if he "never" sells it, the plate has more impact (all cars get sold eventually - if you don't, the people who are handling your estate someday probably will).
