engine case numbers
Where is the best souce to check engine case and serial numbers to confirm what it came out of?
Thank you for your help, Bob |
The "Little Red Book" has the number ranges as do a few other reference tomes, OR you can simply post them and someone will tell ya.

It is an unusual number. It should be a 68 or 69 911 S but the high production number (9156) is throwing me off. I seem to recall the 9 number indicates a racing motor perhaps, but hopefully there will be a more accurate response. Here is a free source for tracking engine and vin info.
Porsche 911 Farbdatenbank |
A bit off topic, but is there a good online source for later the later 911. I have searched but not come across anything real great for my 1980.
Will try and source The Red Book as it could be valuable. Thanks jb |
A 930 casting number means it's 76 or older......

Eng. # 6399156 should be a late 1979 3.0. Engine type 930/03
