Solid Core Wires?

Can anyone tell me if these are solid core wires?

I can't say for sure by the photo but a quick check with an ohm meter will. If the resistance measures "0" they're solid core. Resistor wires are around 8,000 ohms per foot. Rob

Looks like solid core.

So does anyone know what would happen if I used these wires with an MSD ignition and MSD coil?

MSD's website states solid core wires "cannot" be used with their system .
Info is under 'installation section'.

Solid core wires use resistor ends for suppression and will short out with the higher energy ignition. Carbon core wires are made for high engery ignition systems.

With carbon core ignition cables HEI rated and plugs gapped at 0.060".

Stranded copper wires could never perform in these conditions.

Joe

Beg to differ. I've used stainless steel plug wires for 20+ years with an aftermarket ign. box with no leakage or open circuits. That's on a pre-electronic '69.

Resistor wires are recommended for late model vehicles to reduce EMI affecting the electronics.

I would also disagree with the gap of .060.

Steve W and others recommend a gap of .045 to .050.
