NACA Duct/seat question??

Hey guys. I plan on running the NACA duct 1/4 windows on my car, but I had a question in regards to using them to supply the air to these OMP seats. Here is a link:

http://www.ompracing.it/detail.html?productcode=HA/747

Would it be possible to route the hose from the seat to the window? Or am I looking at this the wrong way?

If I'm correct, I thought about using one for my seat(drivers side) and using the other side(passenger) to route to the motor via a hole in the rear to aid in air flow.

Thanks guys.

Chris

Sure you can do that, on my car I run one hose from the quarter window naca duct to the center tunnerl, blowinf onto the tranny, the hose from the other window I zip tie to the cage and have it blow air over me... I am thinking of adding another duct with a filter sock to supply air to my helmet.

Tim, any pictures and details on how you have positioned the hose to the transmission?

The NACA duct was designed to provide a duct that doesn't add any parasitic drag to a shape. In other words. If you calculate the drag of a shape and then calculate the drag of that shape with a NACA duct added to it, they would both be identical.
A NACA duct was never intended to create great airflow. To get a reasonable quantity of air through it you need the duct to be located at a high pressure point. Design books generally recommend that they be used on forward facing surfaces or known high pressure points.

The rear quarter windows are not a high pressure point. The side windows do lower the inside pressure of the car but my guess is it wouldn't be enough to create a reasonable airflow to really ventilate the seat. I would also expect it to feed rain and moisture to the seat.

I would really think that the best way to feed this would be with a fan and/or through a forward facing duct that has provision to separate water from the air. The ventilation grill between the hood and the windscreen seems to be an obvious choice.

That's what I use to direct air to my face with a modified unit I got from Smart Racing.

I am going to redo the the air flow from the main vents in the dash to blow fresh air in (Im removing the A/C). The only reason I brought this question up was because OMP makes that air-flow seat. I though it woul be a good idea to just run that hose up to one of the NACA duct vents. But it seems like it might not blow enough air. Tim, how is your set-up?
