Carpet opinions
It's (past) time to replace my carpet! I'm wondering what everyone thinks about the 2 different types of carpet kits (domestic and Silver?) There is quite a price difference and I was just wondering why!? Thanks

I made the mistake of recarpeting my entire interior with the domestic, which is dreadful junk. It's basically a bunch of cheap, short-nap carpeting stuck onto a thin rubber backing. If you perchance find that you have to reglue any of it--you forgot which part overlaps which, for example--the contact cement will have eaten into the backing far enough that you'll be left holding nothing but handfuls of fuzz. Avoid the domestic.

The domestic pile is typically junk. If you need carpet and only have $200 to spend...go for it. Otherwise do yourself and any subsequent owners a favor, and get the "good stuff".
That said, I just did my 914 in a new high(er)-grade domestic loop (Hargorn?) that more closely matches the original material than the usual pile stuff. The pieces were well-trimmed and edged for $190.
