Factory alarm help
 

OK so if it is not one thing it is another..

So I have the 85 Targa. When I purchased it the doors where absent and I have replaced them.
During my update and installation of the headlights and parking lights I discovered There was a wire disconnected by the positive terminal of the battery.
When I connected this wire it solved all of the issue with the light but now the factory alarms is going off...

So here is my question.. 1 What needs to be done to connect the new doors and locks into the factory alarm OR
2. How do I disconnect the factory alarm

Does anybody have a wire diagram for the alarm and maybe a parts diagram for the locks?

Here is the circuit.

There should be a lock on the inside of your driver's door jamb which activates/de-activates your alarm.

Your alarm appears to be an an "active" state, perhaps through the DME.

To disarm it you will have to open the wires that normally attach to the lock.

Can you start the car?

some thoughts

1. See diagram above - the alarm switch must be present if the alarm is not totally disabled. As the diagram depicts, the grey/brown wires into the switch get a certain amount of resistance with the switch open (diarmed) and a differing amount closed (armed). This is so the alarm brain can tell if the switch is tampered with (or not present). If those wires dont get the correct ohms resistance at all times, the alarm should sound. So you cant just connect the wires together to fake it out. I got a new switch and keys for mine at automobile atlanta and they still show up on their site catalog.

2. there are simple methods posted here to basically permanently disable the alarm at the brain. do a search. you need to disconnect and jumper a few terminals. I know there are posts here with pics included. do a search if you want to go this route. Basically free, save for a few crimp terminals and a piece of wire.

I did a search but didn't seem to come up with anything specific but I will try again.

I am pretty sure the switch inside the door is not present even the Door handles are currently removed. So I think disabling it will be the way to go. At least for now.

I was able to start the car with the wire disconnected but now the alarm goes off as soon as you activate the key.

OK guys.... I did as schoward suggested did a search on how to disable the factory alarm nad attempted to do just that.
The thread I found said to go to the Alarm control module. cut the blue and blue/red wire. Loop the car side of blue and blue/red
Cut the black and run a seperate wire from that to the #8 fuse. I attached what the diagram would look like.

It did not work. So now what?
Also doesn anybody have a picture of the switch in the door? I though it was the lock in the handle..apparently not?

Don't have a picture, but on my '85 Targa, on the driver's side door there is a lock on the panel where the striker is.
When I purchased it the doors where absent and I have replaced them. Any idea what year doors you know have?

BTW, the alarm is a separate key from the ignition/door key(s), so disabling the alarm is likely your best option if you don't have the alarm key.

hmmm I am going to be quite sure the doors I have DO NOT have that. Damn. Wish I did some research before I went ahead and replaced the door.

Oh well.... still leaves me with the delemia... I did what I was advised would disable the alarm and it did not work.

Why don't you do what steve911 did?

Or, since your car starts & runs, disconnect the alarm connector.

Gerry, if I just disconnected it like that wouldnt all of the other functions still work?

The are only starts if I disconnect the wire shown below at the 12V battery terminal, but that causes all sorts of other problems

My 85 911 has the key slot in the door jam for the factory alarm. I don't have the key but can anyone tell me where on the car the alarm components are located? I don't seem to see them anywhere. Thank's, Nick

If you want to, I've seen new locks with keys for sale on eBay. Luckily, I had the alarm and keys for my 85 cab.

I don't think so, but It's an easy test.

Just pull the connector at the alarm horn, and see.

The +12 volt wire you are disconnecting is probably allocated to a buss
on your fuse block.

The alarm module on our '86 is located in the boot, behind the fresh air blower.

Did as Gerry suggested and unplugged the power supply and horn power switch on alarm control unit.... worked.... can't believe it was that easy!!
