3.2 ignition questions

I'm trying to diagnose a small but noticeable loss of power at full throttle in the upper rev range. The engine still revs to redline, but feels flat in the upper rev range where it usually wakes up. The phenomenon occurred halfway through a track day and there are no other symptoms. It's running fine otherwise.

Could be a number of things including several I'm not equipped to evaluate, so I'm checking the easy things including ignition components. Unfortunately, they forgot to print the table with coil resistance values in my Bentley manual- does anybody have the numbers?

Also, I installed Magnecor ignition wires a while back. Their resistances are a lot higher than those quoted for stock wires and they vary be a couple of k-ohms from wire to wire. Any opinion about Magnecors?

Full throttle switch not working properly? Won't send signal to DME, and I believe that affects timing.

Hi Techman,

Thanks for your reply. The full throttle switch was my first thought along with ensuring the butterfly was opening fully. Both seem to be working correctly.

Past experience, '88 3.2 magnecore worked great.

Back to diagnostics, the big three, Spark, Gas, Air

Gas- right amount, right time- Fuel filter? pull a spark plug looking for lean, good grounds for the injector pulsees?

Air - both in and out Air filter clean and do you still have a cat? possible a little plugged?

Spark - Right time and strong. New plugs?

Problem halfway through a track day? Did you burn all your gas and then fill up at a strange place for the second half?
