Eddie,
Must be something with the first porsche's. I bought my first porsche last June. I had the car less than a week and on the way to J.W. shop for a 15K mile service, I was rear ended by a lady in an SUV. Luckily, the damage was repairable and my car now looks better than ever. I got the only existing dent taken out and also got a front spoiler and factory RSA tail put on for a good discount.

Good luck with the RSR conversion.

Okay, I'd like to say "Everything will be wine and roses, baby", but I can't really say that.
My machine got whacked at the end of May. Ranger decimated the door and dented the rear fender.

I got a call a week after I had it in the shop, and the guy said to come pick up the car, the door was on back order and he didn't know when it would be in...

I called Porsche immediately myself and asked why the doors were so hard to find. Well, that Exact door wasn't made, instead a new door, one for 993s and back is to be used instead...a retrofitting door. Since the doors outwardly haven't changed in 30 years, this was not a problem.
Anyway, the door is on and looks great. I have no complaints except...
The door is definitely somehow different because the contact switch doesn't work. In fact, the door is different enough, there must be more than 1/4" to 1/2" of space there! I can't get the door, when closed, to push the contact in no matter what I do.

The car isn't exactly the same ....

Kurt,
Bummer about your door. Lukily I only had to replace the rear lid. The guy who fixed my car put a used one on. He told me that the "new" parts coming from porsche are really factory seconds that were not good enough to be installed on a new car. He told me he tries to find good used parts because they fit better. I don't know if that is the case with 993 parts/door but it sounds like the 993 door isn't fitting up very well with your 84.

Doug, thank you. I did get your email and I did reply with a thanks, however, I'm not sure you'll get the message.
Your computer is infected with a .pif virus that intercepts mail. After I replied to your email, your computer autoresponded with an .mp3.pif attachment. I did not run it of course and recognized what it was.
I sent you an email warning you about the problem, but I'm not sure you'll get it. I do know, I'll get a response from you (or from the virus) on your machine as it will attempt to mail the attachment again to me in a reply. Take note
The url for how to clean it is given below
