![]() ![]() Anyone experience having their 993 Plastic rear bumper MELT from exhaust heat? ![]() ![]() My real concern is that it is happening only on one side (Right), and that means uneven heat or a lean condition on one side of the motor. The exh flow crosses over so the excessive heat may be coming from the left (1-2-3) bank. Using a heat gun at idle the temps are the same. Just wondering if anyone has seen this before......... Len: I saw it at Monterey about a month ago now, on a car in the groups lot. I don't own a 993, but the issue has to be a "hot" exhaust leaking or that the tips are just to close to the body work. On my RS clone, I had to line the bottom side of my fiberglass fenders with a fire retardant tape material. Due to my pee-shooter exhaust just being to close to the fiberglass as it exited the body. I didn't danage it, catch it for first day, but it got very warm at idle. See you shop or dealer before it get worse or you catch in on fire.

![]() ![]() Close inspection of the drivers side show a similar problem, just not quite as much. However, it also looks like the drivers taillight is damaged from heat. This is a new purchase for a customer and we must research the history. Something smells in Denmark, and its not fish. Len ![]() |

Either get better insulated tips or cut a larger outlet in the valance.

Check to see if the heat shields in the bumpers are in still in place. You can also have an exhaust leak around the mufflers.
