911 Wheel Weights

Wheels fitments, all are 17" unless other wise specified

Fuch Size & Offset chart?

Need to figure out the last digit. An .05 would be a 15 x 11 and you don't have that!

milt the last digit is an .01

cheers ed

i will check the other wheel for its number, they are 3 prong wheels so the 73 date code seems right. i have read about these wheels being imported in to sell in the 70s but hevent run across any. i just cant find any information that states anything about them.

cheers ed

PET shows it to be a 15 x 6j.

911.361.020.11 would be the 15 x 7j. Sure looks like a 7 or 8 on the face. It also looks like a 16 in ways.

ok i double checked the other wheel it is an 01 wheel as well and dated 6/73 soo at least they match. i have read about miss marked wheels maybe they both got marked wrong? i mean if they dont exist on paper maybe they are stamped wrong.

Looks like you figured this out already. To confirm this for you Ed you have a pair of early flat 7" wheels that would have come on the '73 RS and the Carrera 2.7 in '74-75. These are fairly hard to find so they certainly carry a premium.

The early flat 6" wheels have a .00 ending and the 7" has .01 with the smaller inner hole for a three prong cap.

i still haven't any proof they are a rs type wheels. and as far as the 74-75 carreras i think they use the non three prong or big holes. i have a low mileage original carrera and the wheels are the large hole wheels.

does anyone know of any actual data that proves what these wheels are ?

thanks for everyones help so far.

cheers ed

Hi Ed,

Obviously you will never the exact history of these particular wheels. You said you bought a 'parts car', what year and model is this car?

We know these were made in May, 1973 so they may have been put on a late production '73 RS or sold as a pair to someone wanting 7" wheels on their '73T, E, or S. The other possibility was they put on a '74 Carrera or sold to someone later on to put on their '74 911. The finish is most likely orignal which would have been correct for a '73 or '74 911. In '75 they went to all black center.

If you want to talk with the ultimate Fuchs guru contact Harvey Weidman. He has been around these wheels since the early '70s and is the premier refinisher of these wheels. Send him a link to this thread at weidmanwheel@sbcglobal.net or call (530) 534-7903.

I'm pretty sure that a wheel made in June of '73 would have never been installed on a '73 RS. That's just to late. That's right before they start making the '74 models IIRC.

I have this pair date stamped 6/72...........

I assumed they were for a 73RS but is there any way to confirm this? They are 7Jx15 and have PN 911 361 020 01.

Different manufacturers/subcontractors do things differently. I think in your 901 thread we were talking about gearbox pro-dates, which are the week. AFAIK, Fuchs wheels are months.

Probably not easy to confirm. The Porsche parts list (1973) shows a p/n 911 361 20 11 7Jx15 wheel, and no p/n 911 361 20 01 at all. On the other hand, I wonder how Porsche treated p/n's for the 7Jx15 Fuchs that had a variety of different paint finishes. Who knows?

Hey Brian! How's everything? Do you happen to know the p/n's for the 7's on your RS? Just curious.

Brian

thanks for the number for harvey hes a great guy to talk with and says they are an accessory wheel sold by porsche and brought in by the 100s. they are going to be shipped down to him and he will determine the condition and then i will make a decision on what to do with them. maybe find them the correct car to fit under.

thanks ed

Oops, I thought the stamping on the wheels were 5/73 but I see they are 6/73 so I would agree that it is highly unlikely they would have been used on a '73 RS.

Yeah, Harvey is the best at these wheels. I'm not surprised he thinks they were sold as an accessory part.
