I have a 77 euro turbo with a stock 150 mph speedometer that says electronic on the face. I am considering changing to an original 180 mph unit which I believe is mechanical. What is involved in getting the rest unit to work? Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

it is easier to go from a mechanical to an electric because you order a pulse generator to change the mechanical to pulses ...
For what you are trying to do you will need and electric pulse feed motor to convert it over to a mechanical spin ... One of the transmission guru's may be able to help you change out the parts you will need to convert a late electric out tranny into a mechanical feed .. or you may look at wheel sensors ... either way seems like a lot of work .... you could send your 150 out and have it refaced to a 180mph .. Off the top of my head that seems to be the easiest ... After all the mechanical 180 is defiantly not original to the car in question .... Steve |
