Cool Speedometer question

I have a 77 euro turbo with a stock 150 mph speedometer that says electronic on the face. I am considering changing to an original 180 mph unit which I believe is mechanical. What is involved in getting the rest unit to work? Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

it is easier to go from a mechanical to an electric because you order a pulse generator to change the mechanical to pulses ...

For what you are trying to do you will need and electric pulse feed motor to convert it over to a mechanical spin ...

One of the transmission guru's may be able to help you change out the parts you will need to convert a late electric out tranny into a mechanical feed .. or you may look at wheel sensors ... either way seems like a lot of work .... you could send your 150 out and have it refaced to a 180mph .. Off the top of my head that seems to be the easiest ...

After all the mechanical 180 is defiantly not original to the car in question ....
