Whats the total of your Pelican project list?

Whats the total of your Pelican project list?

Mine is $5385.....for now.

Clarification - what is the total, right now, of the items on the project list/wish list function our host provides. i.e. stuff you haven't bought yet.

Por_sha911 09-25-2010 04:42 PM

I NEVER total up the costs. This gives me completely honest deniability when the wife asks "How much do you spend on that car?"

KNS 09-25-2010 04:44 PM

Of the many projects over the years, I'm sure I've exceeded the purchase price of the car by now. As mentioned above, I haven't totaled the receipts - I'm too scared.

wildcat077 09-25-2010 04:55 PM

I'm leaning on Kurt's side ...
I'm already into the car for an extra $15,000 dollars over the $23,000 i paid for it not too long ago ... lol and that does not include one drop of paint, engine rebuild or any body parts except for a sunroof seal !!!
When it's for a good cause i stop counting :)

Cheers !
Phil

I lie to my wife and i lie to myself..... I do not want to know

wolf76 09-25-2010 05:04 PM

I guess I'm n the low side. Only $1800 so far. But then again, I'm still a newbie.

Counting $$$$ would simply take the fun out of it...........ignorance is bliss.

efhughes3 09-25-2010 07:13 PM

Ruby has close to $55K in her.

Edit, just noticed you refer to the "wish list". I don't use that, if it needs it, it gets bought. Heck, I've got stuff in stock for things to do when I get bored. But, I like driving her too much.

I can't work up the courage to add everything up. I do know that my freight costs are around 4k so far:eek:

Karaya 09-28-2010 07:11 AM

Also a newbie and I got the car really cheap. The PMO carb kit cost more than the car. But I've already stopped counting as I'm going for a pro paint job. And I know I won't stop there.

yes to all of these.

at least the cost is cheaper than a lot of my former cars.

The wife saw those bills and does not mind the Porsche

kach22i 09-28-2010 07:43 AM

What's the cost of a can of PB Blaster?

So far I've fixed the WUR, Thermo Valve, Vac Retard and Distributor with it, going after the Deceleration Valve next.;)

JeremyD 09-28-2010 07:45 AM

#1 rule of Porsche ownership is never add up all the receipts
#2 rule is that if you missed the first rule, never post said total on the internet

WIL84911 09-28-2010 08:16 AM

over $20K.. into some beaten up $15K car.. Now I've got a RAT ROD.

I can't wait to start all over....

5String43 09-28-2010 08:36 AM

Way too dangerous to keep track! More than I could sell the car for that's for sure.

grizzfan 09-28-2010 08:46 AM

If you haven't read Stephan Wilkinson's book - "The Gold-Plated PORSCHE How I Sank a Small Fortune into a Used Car, and other Misadventures" - pick up a copy. It's a hilarious read and full of good info too. I think he holds the record: Paid about $10K for one, sunk around $70K into it and now it's worth $20,000!

I have a spreadsheet that I use to keep track. Let's just say that once the project total passed the purchase price of the car I blacked it out so I couldn't see it anymore.

peppy 09-28-2010 10:42 AM

$2175 and I just ordered $300 worth. My engine rebuild will be a retirement project.

landrover88 09-28-2010 10:44 AM
