Newbie
After looking for a long, long time, finally found her - a very nice, very original 1988 Targa with 52,000 miles. Found her here on Pelican. The driving experience is everything I had hoped for and more. I had been lurking for a long time during my search, which gave me lots of time to read and learn. Still, I turned some wrenches many years ago but have to admit this is a whole new ball game.

Very nice - congrats. Love that shade of white.
How many previous owners? I assume not many given the low miles. |
Thanks to everyone for the great comments. I am the 3rd owner. And after driving her, I understand what my friends meant when they said these cars have a soul.

Personally, I'm not a big fan of the TV Tray Table on the back. But it looks like a very nice car. Enjoy it with every mile, and smile with every shift. SmileWavy

Car is almost entirely original except for after market radio/cd player. Car also has Viper alarm which works. Not sure what to make of it but car came with an Ungo remote, but I can't find any evidence one was installed. Remote works but nothing happens in the car. No idea what to make of that.
That said, since I started this thread, hopefully I can throw in a couple of beginner questions. First, I checked full throttle operation as recommended here, and discovered the throttle body is not opening fully - maybe 3/8 inch short of full. Can someone explain to me how that is fixed? (I can't find it in Bentleys) Also, I was planning on checking the continuity on the full throttle microswitch at the same time, but can't figure out how to disconnect the plug where it plugs into the switch. Is there some sort of catch which holds it in place? Thanks for any help. |
Welcome to the GP White Targa crew! I bought my 89 GP white Targa 1 year ago this week. I hope you have as much enjoyment from yours as I have had with mine.
