SC Targa sun visors: After market?

My sun visors sag down all the time so I removed them to see if I can make some sort of adjustment to them.

These seem to be after market sun visors. Can anyone confirm? If so, how can i prevent them from sagging?

thanks,
Ruben

These look like the replacement visors on my SC. I bought them from Don McGill Porsche in the late 1990's. I have the paperwork if you are interested.

RE sagging. I have had no problems with mine. Do you mean drooping - Or falling down when you want them to stay up?

My old ones were balloons - all puffy with no shape. The insides just crumbled.

Not technical stuff. Just if you were interested in if they are genuine Porsche. I think they are, but it really does not matter as I think you just want them to not drop down.

I will sniff around and see if you can adjust and get back to you.

I just pulled mine off to check. The hinge near the plastic drivers license holder just rotates freely. The other side has two flats on the shaft and is much much stiffer to rotate. It rotates to locked positions. This is the one that is probably loose on yours.

I see no adjustment or tightening screw. It appears to be a friction fit. I would put your reading glasses on, get a flashlight and figure out what to wedge in the hole / around the shaft to stiffen the rotation.

Bob, thanks for the replies. By shaft do you mean the side pivot clips? My clips are all black plastic and I'm wondering if i need new clips. Can you send me a picture of the hinge with the two flaps?

Those visors are from a Carrera Targa/Cab.

Work great. Have them on my SC.

Check page 369 in this PDF catalog. It shows the hinges are available for the targa visors but these are the original hingess. I don't know if the updated visors have different pins in them.

Perhaps my invoice will come in handy. Let me see if I can find it and I will scan and post. You will then have the part numbers to work with - at least for the visors.

The more I think about it the less sure I am that the visors came with the hinges. I don't remember. If they did not, you just have to buy the correct hinges and the issue should be over.
