Targa Model Set

Porsche have released their 5-car Targa model set in 1:43 scale. Made by Minichamps, it includes 1966, 1977, 1989, 1995 (993), 2001 (996), all in silver. Around US$150. I don't think these have reached US shores yet (Pelican usually carries these factory sets). Minichamps will release individual models of each car in various colors over the next year or 2. But no 69-73 or SC versions - damn!

I cna understand a desire for the early LWB targa model, which was slightly different in several ways, but if they've got an '89 you really don't need an SC - the only telltale difference is the front valence.

WELL!
You should consider that the last 3 of those cars above would not have seen the light of production with out the SC. Porsche was moving to ELLIMINATE the 911 (talk about plots) . . And to the resuce was the 911SC; kicking the "Flagship Design's" big bulbus aluminum butt.

"The idea to produce a convertible had also been put forward to Prof Fuhrmann, but had been rejected on the ground the 911 was obsolete. . .but in Jan 1981the decision was taken to reactivate the program."
Paul Frere, 911 Story

"The 911 was due for replacement in the early 1980s, but demand continued strongly with the SC out selling its declared successor, the 928 by nearly 50%"
