Which Fuchs?

any idea what rims are on this LWB? and if any fender rolling/flares are needed to fit them on a 72?

appreciate it.

Thanks David. any tire recommendations? i've heard selection with 15s is not great?... would 16s with a lower profile tire also fit?

Thumbs up tire/rims input

Simon: 6/7"x15 will work fine, but yes tires are getting harder to find in other than 195, 205, 225 in most cases, without going to a somewhat "race" track tire. Check out the Toyo RA1 205-225 and will fit within the rims sizes you are looking at. And my guess it will improve the handling of your car, but not the ride. Looks like a nice car, enjoy it: Hope the input helps

I think I see deep 6's on the front and standard 7's on the back. That is a very nice looking car! 205/55R15's are available in quite a few brands right now and I am inclined to recommend them for front and back (even with the staggered wheel set). I am headed that same direction on a '73 I am working on right now... should be mounted on the car within the next couple of weeks. No lug changes/spacers needed, or aggressive alignment/fender rolling needed, but you get a nice tire patch all around and the 7's give you an inch of extra track width out back. The tire is a full inch SMALLER in diameter than Porsche's stock size(s), but the look is so much better IMHO...

Hope that helps,

appreciate all the input!

Doug - i think you might be right on the deep 6 fronts. i think i'll contact one of the refinishers - harvy, ed, al reed, etc - that i see here on pelican to get the low down on all the different Fuch 6/7 x 15 options.

i was hoping to run bigger (225) and sticky rubber out back since the 3.2 in my '72 will be getting close to 240hp and i'm betting i'll need all the help i can get. i don't want flairs so it sounds like racey 225 rubber is the best i'll be able to do.

Simon: I'm running the aforementioned GF Goodrich G-Force tires on my 73. I had Harvey Weidman restore a set of Deep 6's and make the rears Deep 7's. On Harvey's recommendation, I'm using a rear spacer and it fills up the rear wheel nicely. When I get home this afternoon, I'll check the tire sizes and post them.

It doesn't make any sense to me to have that wide of a wheel with that little of a tire. It's like having size 14 feet and wearing size 10 shoes.

Looking good! nice work. are those 15s or 16s on there? were those tire sizes selected based on fitting them in the fenders? ie. wider won't fit?

is the rolling of the fender just to push the inner fender lip up and out of the way of the tires? baseball bat type technique?

15s... and while I do agree with Packy's comment, the wheels were on it when I got it and I oh-so-do like the deeper wheel on a slim-line.
The curve of the top of the tyre works for the wheel arch and I doubt much wider would work. I'll be checking soon as the Michelin Pilot Sport Cups on it are near the end of their life.

As for the rolling, yes... just a matter of pushing the lip inside flat against the arch... again done before I got the car.

PS: Another angle here showing tyre:

On my 73, have 6's & 7's - BF Goodrich G-Force Sport 205/55 R 15 front & 225/50 R 15 Rear.
