oil leak - easy fix or not?

My 964 3.6 engine has a small oil leak. I know that most air cooled engines drop some oil, so I am not panicking about this one - yet

As the engine is clean it is easy to spot the leaks, but I am not sure if it is an easy fix or not.

I have traced the wet oil line back from where it is collecting and it looks to go to behind the left side timing chain case. I was hoping that it would just be the chain case cover that was leaking, but if I follow the line of wet oil it is exiting from behind the case!

Is this an engine out fix, or something i can do with it in the car?

I am not worrying at all about it Ben, just planing the next projects

What I am worried about though is a funny noise coming from the engine intermittently (see my main thread - Let the 3.6 fun begin)
