Removing paint from fan?

Will traditional paint removers harm the magnesium?

I stripped the paint off of mine about 6 months ago and polished. The shine has worn off - but looks much better in the natural magnesium. I used mar-hyde tal-strip sray-on paint remover with no problems

Ben, I got it at Trak Auto - not sure if you have any of those around you.

Maybe I can get it a "Coon Dog Auto Parts"...No lie, that's really the name. Perhaps NAPA, Autozone or Car Quest will have it.

Best thing to do, but it requires removal, is have it blasted/polished and powder coat clear BUT do not PC the edges of the blades.

Aircraft stripper (Methylene Chloride) works really well and won't hurt the mag. Available at Walmart so is relatively cheap. Last time I bought some $7-8 quart. If you use it wear appropriate protective gloves. I had to use two pair of nitrile gloves to keep from getting on my hands. The stuff is nasty and burns skin quickly. It's quick and will remove powder coating as well.

Can you say hijack? I have an early sand cast aluminum fan and shroud that has been powder coated. What are your recommendations for removal and refinishing? I want to use it on my 73 "sort of rs" build for a little cool factor.
