MY1975 questions
i am looking for some info on what was available in 1975. please correct me if i am wrong but i believe it came with the 2.7 right? was it a cis car? if not what was it? were there multiple versions available, such as T and/or S versions? anything that was significantly changed between the MY1975 and the start of the SCs in MY1978? thanks.

'75 was the 2.7L engine, and had thermal reactors (first year I think) and the 5 blade fan
Induction was CIS, but an older version... the automatic cold start stuff isn't (AAR and/or AAV I think) and it has a hand throttle to control the engine while cold. Hope this helps.

The 5-blade fan was for MY '76 and '77 only. 1975 had the 11-blade fan.
As far as the differences between '75 and '78, there were many. One big change is that the engine went from a magnesium case 2.7 to an aluminum case 3.0.

Most all points about the 75 have been posted. Just to add a bit, RWebb asks a very good question as non-California cars did not have the dreaded thermal reactors which is a good thing.
The CIS was an earlier version, as noted, but with a change in the WUR to one more like later cars and it could be rebuilt. As mentioned above, the changes between the 75 to 78 were many but here are a couple of obvious ones: Aside from the engine, the body of the 75 had the narrow flares that were widened in the later SC cars. It is the last year with the outside mirror as a manual, polished stainless steel unit. The fuel pump was still located in the left rear, by the rear wheel, and the pump activated with the ignition key rather than a relay/air flow sensor circuit. It did not have the 02 sensor circuitry.

thanks for the info guys. i'm going to look at a 75 tomorrow that apparently had a 3.0 swap but the current owner knows nothing about porsches. the ad read as a 75SC with an SE motor. i am really only familiar with the SC years so this will be a great aide.

The '75 was the last year without a fully galvanized body (some of it was galvanized, but not all of it)... make sure you look very carefully for rust.

ya that i knew. i was told the battery tray and below had rusted out but it was replaced some time in the last 6 years. i always bring a little flashlight and some long screwdrivers to poke around underneath. the odometer is broken too but if it has had a swap it doesn't really matter i guess.

The 49 state cars had the 911SC style heat exchangers with the collector for both sides on the left. California cars had the dreaded engine cooking thermal reactors with the standard 2 inlet muffler.
Cali cars suffered a little in the hp department by comparison, but there was a thriving industry for shorty headers to replace the ovens that also ended up on 76 and 77 usa cars (and turbos too)
