Why.

Who knows, maybe he was rich and bought two, and drove the other one. Then it would . . . . almost make sense. Oh wait, no it wouldn't.

Hmmmm....

Pristine car appears out of nowhere, and instead of being listed on a site for Porsche aficionados, it's listed on Craig's List. And the pictures look like scans of low-res film photos. And he spells out the price rather than put it in numbers.

My bet is that it's a scam.

Anyone wanna string the guy along and have some fun?

Am I missing something here??

There were NO 1983 Turbos made for the U.S., right? They stopped making them until 1986, right? They made them in Europe for that market.

am I missing something? Hmmm

"Changing emissions regulations in Japan and the U.S. forced Porsche to withdraw the 930 from those markets in 1980"

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but "4-speed" in an '83 930 Turbo?

Yes, you are missing something here.

You could not buy a US spec 930 in 1983, but you could import a ZZZ car and federalize it. I'm not defending the ad, but the guy clearly says it was federalized, which means there is some paperwork from USCS, EPA, and USDOT that make the car legal. I owned a ZZZ 85 Carrera, and it's no big deal - it even passed a rolling dyno emissions test with flying colors. It took very little mechanical work to make a ZZZ car US legal.

Another guy says: ""Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but "4-speed" in an '83 930 Turbo?"

No problem. As I recall, all 930s were four speeds until 1987, which is the prime 930 to own. I had a US spec 76 930 and it was a four speed for sure. My neighbors '86 930 is a 4 speed.

This kind of sounds like a Sloan car, given the price, mileage, and location. Anyone checked his website lately?

This is true.

125K is crazy though.

I think 89 was the first year for the 5 speed.

A car that well kept normally belongs to a collector who knows what he is doing and one who doesn´t sell it on Craigs list. One who can spell Pirelli(Perilli) and one who puts an "and" in one hundred twenty five thousand. Maybe the high price is for a decent digital camera?

Maybe he thought "Spelling" out the amount would make it more Elegant (Like spelled out house Numbers) or maybe lessen the Shock of 6 numbers with a Dollar sign in front of it! Who knows, someone may buy it. Ever watch Jay Leno and the E-Bay section?

This car did not appear out of nowhere. It has been popping up on NYC craigslist regularly for over a year and has been discussed numerous times on the turbo forum here and also over at rennlist.

I think some forums members have already been taunting the seller with email inquiries.

I recall at one point I saw it pop up on craigslist with a price of 85k or so. The price went back to 125k after the "sale"
