SC idle speed

What should the idle speed be on my '82 stock RoW SC?

Oh Haha 10-14-2010 03:20 PM

800-900 RPM warmed up

Mine I have noticed is around 1100 now. The weather here in PA is a bit cooler, what would cause a change? I thought it used to be around 8-900. Thanks.

Neal,

Due to the weather getting colder, your control pressure change could directly affect the engine RPM. WUR , AAR, and unmetered air could also affect a change in engine speed. Is the 1100 RPM at fully warmed up engine (185°F plus)? Does the idle speed when fully warmed up change after you removed the oil filler cap? Keep us posted.

Have your CO2 adjusted. It's going into colder weather and your car is experiencing denser air concentrations in its mix. Note also gas mixes being delivered to stations with more Ethanol mix.

This all assumes gas / oil / air filters in good nick, valves not tight, etc. A maintained car.
