How popular is signal yellow?
How would you rate the color on a scale from 1 (worse) to 10 (best) for an early 911 coupe?
|
What look are you going for?
Blue,
I would guess that 99.9% of people here either bought their car and liked ther color or have grown to like it. This has resulted in personal bias as part of ownership to their chosen car and its color. Most people who own a yellow car are going to say it is the greatest color ever for a a 911 and that all other colors are ok, but they prefer yellow. Anyone else will probably tell you that their color is best, but do what you like its your car. Personally I like to see classic Porsche's is classic colors, depending on the look you are going for. If you want a classy subtle look (chrome trim and white, black, silver or Grey) , or a in your face, racy look (Black trim and Red, Yellow, Blue, Green, orange) , or maybe an understated and sophisticated look (Alu trim and slate blue, beige, brown, light yellow). So what look are you going for? Shane |
I think it is a great period color along with Viper Green.
I will NEVER Forgive my PO who painted my factory Signal Yellow car guards red! |

I agree with above post...You should go with the color that looks best to you. Many people on here have opinions but yours is what matters

That is a combination of Racy and Classy. |
I LOVE signal yellow. Someday I will paint an early 911 that color. When I restored by car I considered changing the color to signal yellow, but decided to stick with its current color. I am happy with white, but will have a signal yellow car some day!!

I love yellow!

Viper Green is my preference.

I had a '69 T in that color. Still fond of that color today. Not a fan of color change unless a rotisserie is involved.

is there a record somewhere of how many cars were produced of each color?

Fabulous color for an early car.
|
It's a great color.

To do over, I probably would have done a color change from my 1973's original siver to one of the "jelly bean" colors. Signal Yellow, Tangerine, and Viper Green are all at the top of the list.
|
It's a Great color, will stand out over all comers in any crowd. The best Yellow i have ever seen on a 911.

Either way people are going to be tempted to lick the windows. Another thing to consider is that color and light create many different effects. Also the first car coming off the line can look darker or lighter than the last car coming off the line from the factory. |

Agreed! What a great color indeed!! Nice cars pictured BTW.......I LOVE that color!
