H4 install

Hello,

I've searched the threads, but can't figure out if I need to buy the "H4 Euro Primered Headlamp Cover Ring" (911-631-141-00-M260) that our host sells when I replace my scoops with H4s. I plan to buy the black trim Bosch H4s and paint that trim ring. It looks like the other primered ring goes over the included trim ring. Anyone know where I'm going wrong?

Thanks in advance.

You do not need the primered ring. It is used to cover the chrome plated or the black ring. If you are painting the black ring you do not need an extra one.

Dave:

All proper advice given to you....let me add this---> you have a black car as I recall, and you can leave the "black primered" rings that way for your car. I did exactly that when I fitted Bosch H4's to my silver Carrera...as there were a lot of black trim pieces already on the car.

Wil, sounds much cheaper that way... nice looking car by the way! Too bad it's gone.

Don't make me cry, Dave..... sniff.......

Plus....adding the trim-ring covers adds some "thickness" to the headlight diameter...and staying with the primered ( or chrome) original housing, blends the profile into the fender better....IMHO. For others thinking of painting the exisiting black primered housing, notice that there are adjustment screws so talk to your paint shop how to avoid covering the screw heads with paint, so you can "twist" and adjust the screws without breaking paint that may continue over to the trim rings.
