what did i cut through -picture.
I'm replacing the pan area below the pedal cluster and I cut a hard line in half. All is safe, the tank has been out of the car for a while. It looks like it is a hard line coming from the rear inside the tunnel that attaches to a hose that ends in the evaporation tank. Is this correct? When i do research, I thought the line to the evap tank came directly from the fuel tank itself? See second photo

I am about to have to do the exact same thing...man, I wish I lived closer so I could see what/how you're doing that. I have to replace the pan in the basically the same spot and dimensions as you. What did you use to cut that area out? Did you follow a distinct line/seam or was that free hand? Sorry to hi-jack this thread. Are you posting about this project in any other thread here?

That hardline is part of the emissions equipment. I believe it is used to draw fumes back into the induction system after they have passed through the charcoal canister & other "burp" tanks in the front of the car. It's the hardline that attaches to hose number 20 or 21 in the first diagram below:

Thank you Franck, it sounds like it will be fine to just reconnect with some appropriate tubing line and clamps.
Hotwater, here are some additional photos of the cut along with some body metal I am going to cut down to replace the section. I used a rotozip to partially cut it and a sawsall is excellent once you get it started assuming you can maneuver the long tool into the right position. Be very careful as you can see in the second photo i nipped the wiring harness with the rotozip and now I have to open up the tubing to see if I damaged anything. I am also going to replace both fuel lines that can be seen clearly in photo three. Any suggestions from the board before I start a search on fuel line options would be appreciated. - thanks ![]() ![]() ![]()

Wow, usually associate that sort of rust with a UK car. Is Baltimore as wet and wonderful as England?

Its more likely the salty road winters that did it along with not taking care of window frame leaks. I picked it up after this and I am elbow deep in some rust repairs. Its a 74 that Im backdating. Ill put a full repair and restore post up soon for people to follow if they wish. Just getting through some of it to get a set of photos ready.

I think its great for others to see a good shot of the clear fuel lines in the tunnel from below and where they connect into the front wall. Any opinions on what to use to update these.
