Porsche Crest Fitting a 915 mount to a 901

Hey all!

Among all my other projects for this car, I've also decided that if the engine mounts were all crumbly, then the tranny mounts must be awful. Of course, on a '69 with a 901, the mounts are not replaceable.

I just changed the engine mounts while the engine was out. This car is being built to be a comfortable, fun, weekend driver. Not a track or racing car, definitely not a concours car. Just a good looking, period correct exterior, with nice solid mechanicals, and pretty much stock performance.

That said, I really want to be able to use factory engine/transmission mounts. I'm already looking for a 915 bar, and I'll buy a new set of mounts from our host (to match the two in the rear).

I know there is a great thread out there about making an adapter plate to make the 915 mount work with a 901. I've searched all I can, and I'm just not finding the thread. I would love either a link to the thread, or, if anyone out there has done this conversion, please share the knowledge.

Thanks in advance!
Dan

BTW- already looked at the WEVO bar, it seems like a good solution, but I'm still wanting to use factory mounts. If the price tag or work required starts pushing up against the WEVO mount, then I'll probably break and do that.

Randy Webb ("Randy Webb" or "RWebb", he changed his screen name) did this on his 73. I recall a steel offset plate was required to fit the rear most mounting studs. A quick search did not find the right thread.

I think I may have a spare 915 crossbar mount, is that what you are looking for?

I do need the part, but more importantly, I need knowledge!

I think that old thread was from RWebb, but I searched all I could and couldn't find it.

Same question stands. What do I have to do make a 915 bar work with a 901?

Thanks all!

Dan
