oil pressure with a beat

Looking for opinions or comments. My 84 Targa seems to have developed it's own heart beat in the oil pressure suddenly. Runs good without issue but oil pressure shows fluctuating pressure all the time. It just rises and falls rapidly without connection to RPM or speed. wiring seems good from initial checking. Pressure goes up to 5 bars when it should on high RPM's just bounces all around and never displays or holds a constant pressure for more than 1 to 2 seconds. Bottoms out on hard breaking and light flashes on but comes right back up like you would expect. Suspecting bad pressure sending unit so I've ordered one but am wondering about oil pump or pressure relief springs etc.

I wonder if your pickup tube fell off. I would check your pressure with a gauge and I would not run the car until I checked it.
