I too have QM as my interior code. My car is an 1989 928S4. The original window sticker describes the interior (leather) color as Silk Grey

I would appreciate it if someone could decipher the interior code of QD. I am pretty sure the color is linen.

Thanks,

It's Linen leather, with a contrasting beltline (upper surfaces) in leatherette.

Thanks java. So, what exactly is leatherette? Vinyl? Does that mean the seat bottom was leather and the upper half was not? I apologize as I don't know much about upholstery.

Yes, leatherette is vinyl. Your interior should be mostly leather. The leatherette beltline option was introduced beacuse the open cars tended to bake ther upper surfaces pretty badly. The dash top, lower dash trim, sunvisors, door and quarter window caps and rear shelf were leatherette, as these surfaces got more sun exposure and the vinyl lasted longer.

If I recall, your trim is Marine Blue.

I've been thinking about getting my 911 back to stock color which led me to a search to decipher the VIN, color and option code sticker. LE code? Black, partial leather? What do you mean by beltline? Is that the seat back? Thanks for your help.

My codes

Your interior is a black leather interior with a leatherette beltline. It should be black leather except for the following parts, which should be leatherette: the dash top, lower dash trim, sunvisors, door and quarter window caps and the upper pat of the rear shelf.

Ah now I'm starting to get what the "beltline" means. So by process of elimination the entire front seat (bottom and top) and the rear jumper seats are leather. The door panels are leather including the pocket covers that flip open/shut. Sorry, it's been a bit of a mystery because Porsche is pretty clever with their grade of vinyl and mix of leather and vinyl.

Thanks JR!

Nice work Java. Mine is a German black 89 with what looks like a linen interior L700 NA? Still trying to figure out the additional options as it has the special wishes code 09991.

L700 will be the paint color.

NA would have been a leatherette Linen interior with partial leather seats. The headliner and trim are probably black.

Can't help with the 09991 code.

Thanks Java. A side note - I was discussing reupholstering options with one of the premier specialists here in Europe and there ain't a big difference between reupholstering in correct vinyl/leather vs full leather as stock of original vinyl have diminished - ie something like 10% more for full leather.

I always liked full leather a great deal and had it in most of my cars. It's one area where I'd deviate from original.

I like Lakewell, in Belgium.

I recently bought a 1989 3.2 Targa with interior code SY. My COA says Mahogany partial leather. Here are a couple pics. i haven't seen any other Mahogany interiors and this code never shows on any swatch cards. Can someone confirm if current colors for seats and carpet are original/correct. I will be doing an interior restoration (carpet is terribly worn and not recoverable, driver's seat torn, door cards warped, dash cracked, rear deck destroyed) and hope they are accurate as I love the combination and don't want to be surprised by a major change.

Yes, that looks original. I've seen Mahogany before. The COA is correct. SY = Mahogany partial leather.

Thanks...sounds like both seats and carpet are mahogany. Much appreciated. Looking forward to seeing this interior in pristine condition.

To clarify, the front seats are partial leather, with the remainder of the front seats and everything else in the interior being leatherette.

Lol...ok...my turn!
trying to decode my interior as well!
It's a 84 Carrera. Targa...I know it is Guards red with full leather interior...but I'm not positive about color...I think it's Linen when I compare it to the color chart.
