Cam part #'s

Hello!

Can anybody tell me what cam this is?

901.105.110.01

My spec book tells me it's an E cam but I pulled it out of a 73S engine. The left cam was an S cam. And the lift measures as an S cam. The cam timing was also set at S specs. Could it be a reground E cam to S spec? There is also an 'S' punched into the face of the cam.

Thanks!
BK

The spec book is correct. The 901.105.110.01 is an E cam. It sounds like it was reground to S specs which explains your timing/lift readings and the "S" ID stamped on the end. Sounds fine to me. However, if this bothers you, let me know. I might be interested in taking them off your hands.

LETTERS STAMPED ON ENDS OF CAMS

I have also been wondering about cam identification. My 69S engine has an E and S stamped in the end visible when I remove the tentioner covers. What does this mean? Can I remove the cam covers and find the long # stamped on the cams?

Sherwood: Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure what I am going to do with the cams yet. I have three sets, but I need two of them. I haven't inspected one set yet. If they look good I will be willing to part with these. I should know in about a month. Email me because I WILL forget!

Joe: I've heard you can identify the cams by the stampings on the end, but I have been unable to find any documentation. The part number is hidden by the cam tower, so you can not see it unless you remove the cam. Or at least partially remove it.

Hello

The castet # is only a reference for the billet.

S cams are normaly stamped with a "S" or "03" on the front end.
