Next Mod/Upgrade?

I currently have a SW Chip, K & N Air Filter, and B & B Exhaust System with no CAT, Headers, and Muffler, and 964 Grinded CAM. What would be my next step to get more power?

I was also thinking about taking her to be Dynoed, any guess's what the result might be/should be with this setup?!

Thanks!

Get rid of the K&N?

How about a larger throttle body?

Oh Haha 11-04-2010 03:47 PM

Forced induction.

Seriously, you have done about all that can be done to a NA Porsche.

Driver -- track days and autoX. Get out there and enjoy it.

Why the statement; "Get rid of the K&N." I was under the impression that K&N filters were a good thing. I've had them installed in all my vehicles (Ford F-150, BMW 530i, Land Rover, Boxster and 964) and feel confident in their performance. What am I missing here?

Either increased displacement or forced induction.

Look up K&N filters failures and see how much crap gets through these filter, (I have a set on my car) But, they have a great PR program!! Anyway, increasing displacement is a good way to go and, learning how to drive the car fast will help

Agree 100%, my shop showed me years ago the grit that got past a K&N filter and i've run nothing but stock filters since.

I'll be doing this research and speaking with my Ind. Porsche Shop. Thanks for the input and guidance. SmileWavy

Weight loss program on the car and a differential ratio change. Suspension. On the engine / hp side you are maxed out - to get more power from here is big bucks.

Or just get a 993. :)

Thanks, suspension is done, but might look in to some weigth loss, and might start by taking the spare tire out?

Spare tire, toolkit, carpet, lightweight battery, loose rear seats, loose sound insulation (or go for lightweight insulation) fiberglas bumpers front and rear, GF front fenders, FG decklid, FG hood (or better yet carbon fiber) Makrolon side and rear (well maybe not for a targa) windows, change seats for carbon fiber racing shells, get rid of power windows/mirrors, speakers/sound instalation....
The list is long....

have good interstate gears with killer 3rd & 4th

mnmasotto 11-05-2010 06:06 AM

Gears, Gears, Gears

Gears, Definitely Gears. Will make a big difference. You do not need the stock gears which allow the car to go in excess of 150MPH. If this is not in the cards then go with more displacement and more aggressive cams. Of note, my 3.6L motor was a much better upgrade than my 3.2L rebuild with more aggressive cams, custom chip, etc.

ANYONE care to take a guess what the numbers on the DYNO might show with my current setup?!

Thanks!

There would be a bit of an increase over stock but nothing earth shattering

Nine9six 11-05-2010 06:57 AM

Maybe 5% increase...As Trader said, nothing earth shattering. Oh, and +1 on ditching the K&N

That's a tough question to answer with out more info. What do you want to do with the car, how much you want to spend, and how much power you want since you've done most of the bolt ons.
